Josie Askey-Doran is committed to excellence in her work as a violinist, educator, and event organiser. Currently studying at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, Josie manages her own private teaching studio and performs regularly with the Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Youth Symphony, and Sinfonia of St Andrew’s. Achievements include receiving the George Kotzas Instrumental Award for Outstanding Secondary Instrumentalist from the Innisfail Young Performers Competition, a High Distinction for her Grade 8 AMEB violin exam, a Griffith Award for Academic Excellence, and membership of the prestigious Griffith Honours College. Josie is passionate about providing musical experiences for regional communities inspired by her experiences living on the Atherton Tablelands during high school. She last performed in Far North Queensland in November 2016 and is excited to return this December with her new concert series, Collage: music from past and present, in collaboration with fellow students of the Conservatorium.
